I will be traveling abroad from December 4 thru January 8. When I return I expect to have lots of catch up to do, so support might not be available until some time in January.
If you are evaluating WBC software, please refrain from making any payments until after that time, so that no one is disappointed!
Thank you for your understanding and have a happy holidays!

iTunes 8: provisional tests indicate OK, detailed reports needed
WBC has performed basic testing of Cast Away 2.6 and iDupe 2.5.2 on both OS X 10.5.4 on an Intel MacBookPro and on OS X 10.4.11 on a PPC G5. On these systems, we encountered no problems with iTunes 8.0 at all.
This is not to say there are no potential problems -- just that we did not encounter any. To test further, we will need detailed reports from anyone having problems, including:
• Did the error occur when the iTunes license agreement screen was still active? If so, try again. That is a likely culprit.
• Can you reproduce any errors after iTunes 8 has finished initial processing?
• If so, can you reproduce any consistently?
• The exact error message and how it was shown to you.
• Logs from the application in debug mode. (Turn on debug mode in help menu, perform action to get error, then copy logs and send to WBC.)
In short, we'd like to hold off on recommending upgrading to iTunes 8 until we've received more detailed reports. However our determination thus far is there are no major problems.

Don't rush to update to iTunes 8
If you use any 3rd party software that interacts with iTunes, including iDupe or Cast Away, please do not rush to update to iTunes 8. Since this is a full version update, there are likely to be major changes. Developers typically do not have access to iTunes pre-releases, and we have not had time to test compatibility.
We have had one error report with Cast Away so far.
We will attend to this as soon as possible, but please be patient.

OmniGrowl 3.4 released
This started out as a minor revision but wound up being a huge revision. We got rather obsessed about it, actually. The biggest changes are support for coalescing, adding over 100 preset RSS feeds, and including custom RSS icons for almost all of them. Growl coalescing means that for "stay on screen" notifications, newer ones of the same type will in most cases replace older ones. Please see the version history for details.
WBC ASS Growler 1.1 released
WBC ASS Growler is a demonstration project for how to create clickable Growl notifications with AppleScript Studio (ASS) by using a custom obj-C class. Version 1.1 works around a problem (apparently unique to this kind of ASS solution) where the same click call back is received twice. It also adds support for identifiers, and cleans up a few things.

Cast Away 2.6 released
Cast Away 2.6 has been released. See the version history for details. Please note that this is the same version as the public beta 1. No problems have been reported. Unfortunately WBC has been unable to test this on Tiger on systems where Growl is not installed, so the presumed fix still does need to be confirmed.

Cast Away 2.6 public beta released, Tiger beta testers needed
Cast Away beta testers on Tiger needed!
It had come to our attention that Cast Away was not working on Tiger properly. This happens in cases where "Growl" is not installed. Growl is meant to be optional. Unfortunately the 2 Tiger systems we have access to already have Growl installed, making it difficult to test.
So, anyone on Tiger without Growl please try this version. Please submit comments by e-mail or through the support form.
Please do not announce on update sites just yet.
Download 2.6.1 public beta here.
Important Note: please backup ~/Library/Prefrences/com.wbc.castaway.plist as Podcast settings will be upgraded and cannot be downgraded.
public beta 1:
Added per-podcast feature to enable podcast episode shuffling. This allows podcasts to play without interruption on iPods and in general be treated like other music.
Work around major problem with Tiger introduced with 2.5.3 due to an Apple bug in Leopard.
Above problem prevented Cast Away from working on Tiger if Growl is not installed.
Fixed problem checking global caps if any playlist other than “Podcasts” was selected.
Broke up documentation into several screens.
Revised documentation.
Updated links for new WBC web site.

Welcome
Welcome to the make-over of Wooden Brain Concepts! Enough of you clamored for it, so here we are, dragged kicking and screaming into the brave new world of web two point ah. We admit it looks jazzier by far. But oh, how we pine for the days when hypertext was a novel concept, as it were.
To celebrate the new web site, the first ten people who buy a product and then write that they did in these comments will receive any additional product of their choice for free. Just say what you bought and what bonus you picked. Extra credit for why.
